This was an assignment that had us focusing on our programming skills. We a few assets (such as the basic art work seen) and a list of features to implement every week. These features would be things such as a dynamic HUD (to keep track of your score, health, shields, lives, ammo and thruster), the actual thruster implementation, enemies, generating a boss after a certain amount of enemies are killed / score made, different types of shots (single shot, a shot that swings left and right, a multi-shot, or a bomb that splinters into eight different shots), etc… Bottom line, anything beyond art work needed to be programmed, and I like to think that it came out pretty well (and was a great learning experience).

QA

  • Created a centralized list for recording found bugs

  • Facilitated several play test sessions that included both experienced and new gamers

  • Play tested game myself extensively per iteration and recorded found bugs on proper form

  • Reviewed outside playtesters feedback and relayed their opinions to the team
