Developer’s Log: Entry 16
Full Sail GDNB Capstone: Team Balerion – Game: GravityWorks
Team: Joseph Aranda, Kayci Lyons, Joshua Schramm, Michael Smith, & Darby Wall.
Audio Composer: Llessur Thomas
Team Accomplishments:
Apologies everyone! These last few weeks have been a whirlwind! As of my last post we spent two weeks trying to work with a few artists - who unfortunately, we had to sever ties with due to them being stretched too thing and focusing on other projects and not ours. So we continued to fine-tune the systems that were already integrated, searched for art assets via the Unity Asset Store, and implemented them game-wide.
In addition to art, we did get the chance to work with Llessur Thomas - who created all the background music you'll hear throughout the game. Other sound effects are royalty-free and retrieved from sources like Westar.
Individual Contributions:
In addition to the regularly scheduled weekly tasks I complete -
which include:
Play testing the latest build as a Developer and recording bugs found
Soliciting others to play test the latest build and encouraging them to fill out the playtester form
addressing a plethora of bugs
preparing the weekly build
revising supporting documentation for the build
I worked on revised the UI design, created a pseudo GIF script & implemented it into the game's tutorial, continually attempted to converse with Art & Audio department via Discord, Trello, & Hangouts, implemented art assets into the Tutorial, DW, & Final levels, touched up art assets in JA & KL, implemented art for Pressure Plates & Death Volumes, implemented background music in all levels (via a single script), touched up audio assets used in other places (such as explosions and turret shots), .
Concerns:
As this Capstone project comes to an end - I suppose, 'Concerns,' are more, 'What would you have liked to get done, that didn't?' For that, I would've loved to put in more audio, animations, and levels. Feel free to check out our team's postmortem analysis.
